WEST OF TWIN PEAKS, San Francisco — San Francisco’s city traffic engineer approved a five-minute passenger loading zone on Vicente Street just east of West Portal Avenue to make medical visits safer for patients who need help getting to or from a vehicle.
The SFMTA decision covers a 20-foot white-zone space on the north side of Vicente Street near an oral surgery office. The stated hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The agency received two comments supporting the change, citing difficulties experienced by patients after sedation who may not be able to walk long distances.
The approved designation is intended for short passenger pickup or drop-off, not all-day parking. Formal approval does not establish exactly when curb markings were painted or signs were installed, and drivers must obey the rules currently posted on the street.
What residents should know
Patients should make arrangements for a safe ride when required after a procedure. Residents and visitors can check SFMTA’s curb-zone results and report problems with blocked accessible travel or unsafe loading.
